One of the best things about Schweitzer Mountain Resort is that the village is small. Everything sits within an easy stroll — the lifts, the restaurants, the rental shop, the coffee. Stay on the mountain and you can walk to the slopes in the morning and walk home for lunch. Here is a friendly tour of your options.
Selkirk Lodge is the village classic: a full-service hotel in the heart of it all with 77 rooms, many with mountain or village views. Guests get an outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs, a fitness room, a ski locker room, heated underground parking, and an on-site day spa. A hot and continental breakfast buffet is included, and the lift-side location means you are minutes from the ticket office. It is the easy, everything-handled choice for families.
White Pine Lodge, right across from Selkirk, is the condo option. Units run from one to three bedrooms with full kitchens, gas fireplaces, laundry facilities, and private balconies — the kind of place where a week-long stay actually feels comfortable. Guests also get heated underground parking, a fitness center, outdoor hot tubs, and access to the Selkirk Lodge outdoor pool. For families and longer trips, the kitchen alone is worth it.
The Humbird is the newcomer: a 30-unit boutique hotel that opened in February 2022 with a design-forward feel and the Crow's Bench restaurant downstairs. It is the most polished stay in the village, and its alpine-inspired dining room has become a favorite evening spot even for guests staying elsewhere.
Beyond the three main lodges, the resort manages a variety of off-site condominiums and homes suited to families and groups, and plenty of privately owned condos and vacation homes are rented out across the mountain. Availability varies by season and books up fast for holidays, so plan ahead.
One more thing worth knowing: because the village is so compact, staying on the mountain means you rarely touch your car. Park once, then ski, dine, and wander on foot. Trips down to Sandpoint — about half an hour down the mountain road — are for groceries, a lake day, or a night out.
